Philadelphia KiXX News Release

Philadelphia, PA, March 4, 2008 - The Philadelphia KiXX announced today that the club has agreed to terms with veteran defender Casey Barton for the remainder of the 2007-08 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) season. Barton was a key defender on the KiXX 2007 MISL Championship team. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Barton was originally acquired with the club's fifth-round selection in the 2005 MISL Dispersal Draft, but was inactive for the 2005-06 season after spending the previous two campaigns with the Kansas City Comets. Barton joined the KiXX for the 2006-07 campaign, scoring two goals while blocking 27 shots in 23 games good for third on the team behind All-MISL Defenders Pat Morris and Genoni Martinez. A native of Wichita, Barton split his professional indoor debut between the Comets and the Cleveland Force in 2002-03, before amassing 37 blocks (third team) in 26 games for Kansas City in 2003-04 and 54 blocks and 14 points in 37 appearances in 2004-05.

The Tabor College (KS) graduate received numerous athletic honors including the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, the Tabor College Male Athlete of the Year and NAIA All-American Honorable Mention. Barton was also named an All-League and All-State selection at Maize High School.
