KiXX Sign Pair of Former NY/NJ MetroStarts for 2004-05 Season

Philadelphia, PA, September 16, 2004 – Philadelphia KiXX Executive Vice President/General Manager Greg Bibb announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defender Edgar Bartolomeu and midfielder Jeff Moore for the upcoming 2004-05 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) season. Both players previously competed with the New York/New Jersey MetroStars of Major League Soccer (MLS).

Bartolomeu returns to the KiXX for his fourth season, fifth overall indoor campaign after beginning his indoor career with the Buffalo Blizzard of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) in 2000. Following the 2000-01 campaign, the native of Angola, was selected in the fifth round of the 2001 NPSL Dispersal Draft by Philadelphia. The 5'10", 145 pound defender accumulated 27 points and 63 blocks in his first two seasons with the KiXX, then notched eight blocks in the final six regular-season contests of the 2003-04 campaign.

The 26-year-old Bartolomeu registered 1,000 minutes and one block in 11 starts, 13 total games, with the MetroStars in 2003, before being waived prior to the 2004 season.

Moore, a native of Gloucester Township, NJ, was drafted by the MetroStars in the sixth round (66th overall) of the 2002 MLS Superdraft. He appeared in 18 games (17 starts) with three assists in his rookie season of 2002 and scored his first goal with the MetroStars in a 3-2 exhibition victory over Boca Juniors on June 19, 2002. The 24-year-old has also competed with the Virginia Beach Mariners of the outdoor A-League.

A graduate of Richard Stockton College, Moore led Stockton to the NCAA Division III title in 2002, assisting on the lone goal in the team's 1-0 championship win over Redlands (CA). He was named to the NCAA Division III All-America second team as a senior. The 5'9", 160 pound midfielder set the school's single-season record with 19 assists his senior season and the career record with 48.

The KiXX have scheduled a pair of pre-season matches versus the defending MISL Champion Baltimore Blast. The team will first battle the Blast at DuBurns Arena in Baltimore on Friday, September 24. Game-time is 7:00 pm ET. The club will then host Baltimore at the club's annual "Meet the Team Party" on Tuesday, September 28. The event will be held at the team's official practice facility, Tri-State Sports, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm ET. Philadelphia kicks-off their ninth season of professional indoor soccer on the road for two contests, before returning to the Wachovia Spectrum to entertain Baltimore for the team's home opener on Saturday, November 6. Game-time for the club's 2004-05 home opener is scheduled for 7:05 pm ET.

The Philadelphia KiXX are a member of the Major Indoor Soccer League, a single-entity organization that features a coast-to-coast presence across the United States. The club will enter its ninth season of play in 2004-05 at the Wachovia Spectrum located in Philadelphia, PA.
