Philadelphia KiXX News Release
Philadelphia, PA, September 22, 2005 - The Philadelphia KiXX announced today the acquisition of 10 players in the 2005 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Dispersal Draft. On September 21, the MISL announced the Cleveland Force will not participate in active play during the 2005-06 season and that the Kansas City Comets have been granted an inactive status for two seasons. The League is working to return a Cleveland entry to full-active status for the 2006-07 campaign and Kansas City has signed a letter of intent to return in 2007-08.
Philadelphia, with the MISL's second-best winning percentage in the 2004-05 season, was given the fifth selection in each round, but the club's first-round pick was traded to the California Cougars in a transaction that occurred in June 2005. The KiXX began their selections with midfielder Allen Eller from the Cleveland Force in the second-round, 11th overall. Eller, a six-year veteran began his career in Cleveland, where he spent two seasons (1999-2001) before playing with the Harrisburg Heat for the 2001-02 campaign. The Akron University graduate was then traded to the Baltimore Blast and was a featured member of the back-to-back champion squads. The Cleveland, OH native returned to the Force during the 2004-05 campaign and registered 21 points in 35 games between the two clubs.
The KiXX then selected forward Dino Delevski from the Kansas City Comets roster with the team's third-round choice (17th overall). Delevski, the League's Most Valuable Player (MVP) following both the 2001-02 and the 2002-03 seasons, tallied over 200 points in the two-year span to claim the Spalding Scoring Champion Title each season. The native of Skopje, Macedonia began his professional indoor career with the Wichita Wings in the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) in 1999-00, before joining the Comets prior to the 2001-02 campaign. Delevski, a six-year veteran is a five-time All-League selection and a four-time All-Star. The 29-year-old graduate of Oklahoma City University also earned Second Team All-American honors and Regional Player of the Year recognition in 1999.
In the fourth round (23rd overall), the club reacquired the rights to midfielder Gary DePalma. The Pittsburgh, PA native began his professional indoor career with the Detroit Rockers in 1999, where he spent two seasons before joining the Philadelphia KiXX prior to the 2001-02 season. DePalma recorded 108 points in 80 games over two seasons with Philadelphia, earning All-Star honors in 2002-03. The 29-year-old veteran notched 27 points on 11 goals and 16 assists with Cleveland last season.
