KiXX fall to 0-2 with loss to Ignition, 17-6 in Detroit

Philadelphia, PA - The defending MISL Champion Philadelphia KiXX (0-2) lost to the Detroit Ignition (1-0) by a score of 17-6 in Detroit. The two teams squared off in the 2007 MISL Championship game, which the KiXX won by a score of 13-8. Philadelphia will play the final game of their season opening three-game road trip in Monterrey, MX on Thursday, November 8. The KiXX will take on the expansion La Raza and Genoni Martinez, last season's MISL Defender-of-the-Year as a member of Philadelphia.

Ignition defender Jonathan Greenfield began the scoring 12:35 into the first quarter, a two-point shot off an assist from midfielder Ricardinho. With one second left in the quarter, Detroit forward Hewerton Moreira booted a three-point goal to bring the score to 5-0 after one frame.

Hewerton struck again at 8:52 in the second period with a two-point goal off an assist from midfielder Vahid Assadpour. Ricardinho scored the final two points of the half on a power-play, bringing the score at halftime to 9-0.

Ricardinho scored his second goal of the game on a two-point shot off an assist from Hewerton. KiXX 2006-07 All-Rookie selection Tony Donatelli put the first points on the board for Philadelphia with a two-point goal at 12:20 in the third. Newcomer and first overall selection in the 2007 MISL Expansion Draft Aaron Susi notched an assist on the goal.

KiXX midfielder Angel Rivillo, who was also taken in the 2007 Expansion Draft, notched a two-point power play goal at 6:10 in the fourth quarter with an assist from forward KiXX player/coach Don D'Ambra. Rivillo scored his second goal of the night at 9:14 with a two-point shot off an assist from Susi to bring the score to 11-6.

In the final quarter, Philadelphia brought in a sixth attacker to attempt a comeback. Ignition defender Droo Callahan and midfielder Kyt Selaidopoulos both took advantage of the empty net, each scoring a three-point goal to bring the final score to 17-6.

Philadelphia began last season 0-2 as well, before finishing with a regular season record of 17-13 and winning the MISL Championship.

The KiXX will wrap up their three-game road trip with a game in Monterrey, MX against the expansion La Raza on November 8. The KiXX will open the home portion of the schedule on November 10 against Ignition. All fans in attendance at the Wachovia Spectrum will be treated to a banner raising ceremony after an afternoon block party. Each fan will also receive a complimentary 2007-08 Philadelphia KiXX Magnetic Schedule. Game-time is scheduled for 7:05 pm ET with the doors opening at 6:00 pm ET.
