KiXX captain Pat Morris wins Player of the Week award

Philadelphia, PA, January 31, 2008 - The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that KiXX captain Pat Morris has been named the Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the seven-day period ending January 27. The honor is the first of the season for Morris and the 14th of his nine-year career.
The KiXX played two games during that seven-day span, a 10-6 loss to the Orlando Sharks on January 25 and a 17-13 win over the New Jersey Ironmen on January 27. In Orlando, Morris was credited with an assist on John Barry Nusum's goal while blocking two shots. The assist was the 100th of Morris' career. While hosting the Ironmen in Philadelphia, Morris scored two goals, a two-pointer and a three-pointer for five points, while blocking three shots. Morris' first goal in the match gave him 350 points for his career.
On the season, Morris is tied for the team lead in goals with 11, ranks fourth in assists with five, and second in points with 28. Morris leads the team in blocks with 23, and has also converted both penalty kicks he has taken for the club this season.
In his ninth season, Morris is beginning to set many personal milestones, including recording the 450th block of his career against California on November 30,2007. Morris is Philadelphia's all-time blocks leader and ranks third in games played behind player/coach Don D'Ambra and keeper Peter Pappas. The Philadelphia native needs just four goals for 150 in his career and 10 more games played to reach 300.
The KiXX look forward to three straight home games coming up. Saturday, February 2, the KiXX will host the Detroit Ignition in a rematch of the 2007 MISL Championship Game beginning at 7:05pm ET. The team will then host the Milwaukee Wave on February 9, for KiXX Hat Night courtesy of NBC10. Finally, the KiXX will host the Chicago Storm for the club's annual School Day Game on February 13, beginning at 10:35am.
