Philadelphia KiXX News Release
Philadelphia, PA, March 16, 2004 â The Philadelphia KiXX announced today that the club has partnered with Citizens Bank for the second consecutive year to present the 2004 Citizens Bank Philadelphia KiXX Summer Kamps. The program, which opens in mid-June and runs through late August, is designed for boys and girls (ages four through 18) with more than 30 locations offered throughout the Tri-State area.
"The KiXX are proud to join Citizens Bank and our family of corporate partners in presenting the 2004 Citizens Bank Philadelphia KiXX Summer Soccer Kamps," KiXX Executive Vice President and General Manager Greg Bibb stated. "After a highly successful 2003 camp season, we have expanded the number of sites throughout the Tri-State area to meet the increasing demand for our programs. We take great pride in the soccer curriculum that we offer for youth players of all ages and skill levels and we are excited about the prospect of visiting over 30 locations throughout the region."
Each site offers area children the opportunity to learn directly from the professionals, with an approximate 12:1 ratio of campers to instructors. KiXX player/coach Don D'Ambra serves as the overall program director, while captain Kevin Sloan, goalkeeper Peter Pappas and defender Pat Morris serve as individual site directors. Other team members that will provide instruction at various locations include Shawn Boney, Matt Brooks, Adam Bruckner, Stuart Dobson, Andy Guastaferro, Les Lunsford, Tony McPeak, Joel Shanker and Goran Vasic.
This summer, the KiXX offer five unique camps for players of all skill levels and ages, each operating Monday through Friday. Day, evening and extended day camps return from last summer's schedule, while a Tot Program and KiXX Keeper Kamp will each make their debut in 2004. Day Camps will operate from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and are designed for players of all skill-level, ages six through 14. Evening Camps will run from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and are also designed for all players, ages 6-14, with a focus on team training. The newly established tot program is designed for the younger player, ages four to five years old, at all open day and open evening camp sites. Extended Day Camps are for dedicated players that are looking to gain an edge on the competition through advanced skills training and will operate from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. KiXX Keeper Kamps will provide aspiring netminders of all ages and skill levels specialized goalkeeper training from All-Star goalkeeper Peter Pappas.
"Citizens Bank is again proud to be the title sponsor for the KiXX Summer Kamps and to help kids learn important soccer skills from professionals. The KiXX' summer program is great fun and a terrific opportunity for area youth to score big, win prizes, and find the soccer champions within themselves," said Stephen D. Steinour, Chairman and CEO of Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania.
Each participant receives professional instruction from members of the Philadelphia KiXX, an official camp t-shirt, official soccer ball and a voucher to the 2004-05 KiXX home opener. Citizens Bank has also added a valuable educational component for parents called "Citizens Bank Chalk Talk". Every Friday, coaches will explain the techniques, lessons and skills that were taught during the week so parents and children can practice them together. In addition, Citizens Bank has added special features to the camps, including an awards ceremony every Friday where one child will receive a Series EE $50 savings bond.
