Lubbock Cotton Kings News Release

LUBBOCK, TX – Lubbock Cotton Kings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Chris Dashney announced today the signing of goaltender Lance Leslie.

"This is a great signing for us," said Dashney – former teammate of Leslie's with the Wichita Thunder. "He is a veteran goaltender that brings the leadership and character that I want to our team."

Leslie, 5-10, 165-pounds played 25 games for the Adirondack IceHawks of the United Hockey League last season after having decisions in 48 with the Laredo Bucks the year prior.

"The (Adirondack) situation was tough," said Leslie. "I am so excited to be back in Lubbock. I spend my summers here and I am excited about being a King again."

The Dawson Creek, British Columbia, native played two seasons in the Hub City from 2000-2002. In those two years, he played 78 games and posted a 39-23-10 record. Leslie had a save percentage above .900 and a goals against average below 3.00 both seasons with the Kings.

"I know the Cotton Kings have struggled here," said Leslie. "There is a new coach and general manager and the attitude had changed."

Leslie, 30, played juniors with the Tri-City Americans for three seasons (1991-94) before starting his pro career in 1994-95. He has played for Laredo, Lubbock and Wichita in the Central Hockey League and has had stints in the COHL, AHL, WPHL (Lubbock), ECHL and UHL.

"Young goaltenders can have a great regular season but they aren't proven in the playoffs," said Leslie. "Your most important position is your goaltender and you want him to have the most experience possible."
