Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Kingfish (22-43) fell to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters by a final score of 5-3. The Kingfish have now lost eight straight games this season.

Kenosha struck first in the second inning when a run came home to score on a Matt Byars groundout. Later in the inning, a second run scored on a wild pitch. The Rafters quickly roared back to take the lead 3-2, and never let up. The highlight of the ball game belonged to JD Hearn, however, who hit his first home run of the season in the fifth inning.

Cole Erickson took the mound tonight and threw six innings. He allowed four runs off of seven hits, but fanned five. Jesse Ellefson allowed one run in two innings of relief. Ellefson forced a huge double play to leave the bases loaded for the Rafters in the eighth inning and give the Kingfish a chance to come back.

The rally fell just short, but the offense had some success. Pat McInerney went 2 for 4 on the night to lead the Kingfish offense. Blake Reese doubled for the third time in as many games, and ended 1 for 4. JD Hearn belted a solo shot in a 1 for 3 day to score the final Kingfish run.

The Kingfish will have their season series finale with Wisconsin Rapids tomorrow at 4:05 CT. The Kingfish will return home for a two game series with Green Bay on Monday.
