King pilots Patriots over Flight

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Mike King led all scorers with 21 points and piloted the Patriots to defeat Huntsville Friday night, 94-74. After a close first quarter, the Patriots gained a spark in the second quarter that remained with them throughout the rest of the night. Fayetteville ended the first half with a 17 point lead, which eventually grew as large as 21 points.

With Omar Cook out for the night, Greg Davis stepped up to a starting position and contributed with five assists. David Young was the second leading scorer with 18 points, while Tang Hamilton fell two rebounds short of a double-double with 16 points and eight rebounds. Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje was the high-rebounder for Fayetteville with nine.

Huntsville had five players in double figures with Bernard King as their high-scorer with 12 points. Mengke Bateer provided 11 points while Damone Brown, Cedric Henderson and Austin Nichols shared 10 points apiece. Rodney Bias also helped out the Flight with 10 rebounds for the night.

The Patriots (6-17) travel to take on Florida (9-6) on the road this Sunday January 23 at the Germain Arena. Game time is 6 p.m. The Flight (13-10) will travel to Columbus to take on the Riverdragons Friday, January 28. For more information, log onto nbdl.com.
