WHO'S HOT? The Roanoke Dazzle has won five of its last six games and six of its last eight. The Huntsville Flight has won four of its last five.
WHO'S NOT? The Columbus Riverdragons have lost four straight and have seen their lead in the NBDL standings drop from five games to two since Obinna Ekezie signed the first of two 10-day contracts with the Atlanta Hawks on January 10.
NBDL QUOTE OF THE DAY: "This is not the NBA, but the thing I do like about the NBDL is it's like a sense of family. Coach (Kent) Davison treats you like a man and you can talk to him. In the NBA it's hard to talk to coaches. In the NBA, you're going to work and you get out of there. ALUMNI CHECK: Former NBDL star Bobby Simmons (Mobile) scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in 44 minutes for the Los Angeles Clippers against the Dallas Mavericks Thursday. Former D-Leaguers Mikki Moore (Roanoke) and Mamadou N'diaye (Asheville) also played in that game for the Clippers.
SMUSH WHO? Back in a starting role with Florida after Smush Parker earned a GATORADE Call-up on Tuesday, guard Marcus Moore scored 14 points, dished out nine assists and grabbed five rebounds as the Flame won at Columbus on Thursday.
NBDL QUOTE OF THE DAY II: "It started the other night (against Roanoke). Sooner or later they've got to catch on. We came out and put two good games together. It's just two games, but it is a step."...Coach Dennis Johnson told the Naples Daily News after his Florida team defeated league-leading Columbus Thursday night to mark the first time the Flame has won two straight games in club history.
