Kim Pitches Tucson to Win in Vegas

Byung-Hyun Kim threw six scoreless innings Sunday afternoon and Tucson pounded out 14 hits in a 7-0 win over Las Vegas at Cashman Field. Las Vegas entered the game 26-10 with the best winning percentage in the Pacific Coast League. The game marked the first time this season that the 51's were shut out.

Kim allowed five singles while throwing 66 pitches, 49 for strikes. Kim hit a batter and struck out five while not allowing a 51 batter to reach third base.

The Sidewinders scored five runs in the first inning for Kim a day after being shut out by Las Vegas and failing to advance a man to third base. Doug DeVore's two-run homer capped the five run inning that also featured an infield single from Kim.

The Sidewinders scored single runs in the second and fourth innings to chase Vegas starter Scott Winchester.

DeVore led the offensive charge with three hits and three RBI. Chad Tracy collected three hits and scored two runs. Tim Olson and Mike Bell each produced two hits.

Tucson improved to 16-19, nine games back of first place Las Vegas. Edgar Gonzalez (1-0 1.29) will start for Tucson against the 51's Wilson Alvarez (3-0 1.13).
