
Killer Bees to Compete in 11th Annual NAHL Showcase Tournament

BLAINE, Minnesota - The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees will compete in the 11th Annual NAHL Showcase Tournament on Wednesday, September 18 through Saturday, September 21 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.
To kick off the tournament the Killer Bees will compete against the Coulee Region Chill at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18. The following day the Killer Bees will go against the Aberdeen Wings at 10:00 a.m.
On Friday, September 20 at 4:30 p.m. the Killer Bees will play the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. The tournament will close with a game against the Soo Eagles on Saturday, September 21 at 9:15 a.m. For a small fee, fans can watch all of the games live online by logging on to www.FASTHockey.com.
The event is a yearly gathering for every NCAA program and NHL team as they get their first look at some of the best and brightest hockey talent North America has to offer. The NAHL Showcase Tournament attracts over 9,000 people which include over 300 professional, college and junior scouts.
There will be 32 teams featured from the Tier 1 North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), eight additional teams from the Upper Midwest High School Elite League (UMHSEL) and 12 teams from the Tier 1 High Performance Hockey League (HPHL). In addition, there will also be four at large Midget Minor 16U Tier 1 teams who will compete in the HPHL 16U division as a part of the five-day, 80-team showcase event.
Currently, the Killer Bees are 1 - 0 - 1 (wins - loss - overtime loss), tied at third place in standings with the Lone Star Brahmas in the South Division. The Killer Bee's home opener weekend is Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29 at 7:05 p.m. at the State Farm Arena.

The NAHL consists of 24 teams split into 4 divisions. The RGV Killer Bees competes in the biggest division which is the South division and includes 7 teams, the Amarillo Bulls, Corpus Christi IceRays, Odessa Jackalopes, Lone Star Brahmas, Topeka RoadRunners and the Wichita Falls Wildcats.
