TONIGHT'S GAME
The Bees look to win their first game of the season after falling 6-3 in the season opener last night.
LAST NIGHT
The Arizona Sundogs capitalized on four power play opportunities to defeat the Killer Bees 6-3 in front of 5,275 at Dodge Arena. The Sundogs earned the victory in their first ever regular season game. Overall, six of nine goals in Friday night's Killer Bees home opener came via the power play as the teams combined for a total of 17 power plays. Ryan Steeves and Doug Orr each notched a pair of goals for the Sundogs, while goaltender Kris Mayotte turned aside 49 RGV shots. Dan Laperierre collected three assists. Jonathan Robert scored twice for the Killer Bees, including his first pro goal. Defenseman Jamie Lovell picked up a pair of assists. Jeff Van Nynatten made 14 saves in the losing effort.

TONIGHT'S OPPONENT
The Sundogs were without Cory Stillman, Torrie Wheat and Brent Kelly last night. All three were top scorers in preseason action...The Sundogs played its first-ever game last Friday coming out on top in a 5-4 overtime preseason victory against the Northwest Division Colorado Eagles despite being out shot 44-37. Forward Cory Stillman finished with two goals while teammate Torrie Wheat opened Sundogs play with a hat trick. The following night, the Sundogs won their second overtime game in as many days against the Eagles with Brent Kelly scoring his second goal of the night at 3:09 of the extra frame. Torrie Wheat also scored to help the Sundogs to a 3-2 win.
NOTES OF THE NIGHT
- The Bees and Sundogs combined for 17 power plays last night. In five games last night, CHL games produced 112 power plays and 17 power play goals. Oklahoma City and Bossier-Shreveport combined for 29 power plays.
- Jonathan Robert notched a pair of goals last night, including his first as a pro.
- Jason Cirone was named Killer Bees Captain by head Coach Paul Fixter and Assistant Coach Sean Gillam. Dennis Maxwell was named full time alternate captain. Bill Newson and Kurtis Dulle were named rotating alternates.
- The Bees saw seven players dress/appear in their first regular season pro games on opening night; Cummings, Casey, Bickel, Blanchette, Robert, Mathieu, Blanchard.
- Killer Bees Head Coach Paul Fixter and Sundogs part-owner Eric Lacroix are familiar with each other; Lacroix played three seasons for the Colorado Avalanche while Fixter was an assistant coach there. Lacroix would take over Fixter's role as video coach when Fixter moved behind the bench in Hershey in 2001. He eventually became Director of Hockey Operations during the summer of 2002.
- The Bees are 1-3 on opening night.
- The Bees lost 3-1 at San Angelo in their first ever game (Oct. 18, 2003) and fell 5-2 at Austin the following year (Sat. Oct. 23). They defeated Lubbock 5-3 last year.
