Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release
Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Pioneers' left footed Kicker Dave Davis is the quintessential laid-back California surfer off the field. Put him in pads and he's as competitive as any player on the field. Davis attended high school at Bishop Montgomery High in Torrance, CA. He was a three-sport athlete, competing in football, soccer and baseball. He earned All-Mission Conference accolades in 1997.
This season Davis is one the top kickers in the af2. He ranks 3rd in PAT Kicks Made, 5th in Scoring Kicking. The left-footer also ranks in the top ten in Field Goals Made and PAT Kick PCT.
Davis quickly became known as one of the af2's elite kickers during his rookie year in 2004. He finished ranked 3rd in Scoring Kicking, 4th in Field Goal PCT., and 5th in PAT's Made. He also set the season mark for most points scored by a kicker in a game with 15.
Davis's quick transition to the af2 came as no surprise. He kicked collegiately at the University of Southern California, where he was a Football News 2001 All-American Honorable Mention and All-Pac 10 Honorable Mention. He finished his career at USC having converted 16 of 21 field goals and 38 of 44 PAT's.
Prior to his time at USC, Davis kicked for El Camino Junior College in Torrance, CA. In 2000, Davis was named to the J.C. Gridwire All-American 2nd team and the J.C. Athletic Bureau All-State Region IV 1st team. That year he converted 11 of 15 field goals and 29 of 31 PAT's.
Davis, who majored in health promotion at USC, has an interest in becoming a firefighter and paramedic. While in junior college, he became a certified emergency medical technician with the Inglewood Fire Department.
Davis and the Pioneers will be home hosting the Albany Conquest on July 23rd at the Wachovia Arena at 7:30PM. Single game and group tickets are now available. Anyone interested in purchasing Pioneers tickets should call the team's ticket sales office at either (570) 270-5811 or (570) 270-5813. Tickets may also be purchased at the Wachovia Arena box office and online at Ticketmaster.com.
