
Kichton Named Western Conference Defenseman of the Year

The Western Hockey League announced today that Spokane Chief defenseman Brenden Kichton has been named the Western Conference Defenseman of the Year and a first team all-star for the second straight season.
Kichton is the first Spokane player to earn first team all-star honors in back-to-back seasons and is now the Western Conference nominee for the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy, the honor given to the WHL's Top Defenseman. Morgan Rielly of the Moose Jaw Warriors is the Eastern Conference nominee.
Kichton led all WHL defensemen in scoring with 22 goals, 63 assists and 85 points. He is a three time winner of the organization's John "Hitman" Hern Defenseman of the Year and two time winner of the Chiefs' Player of the Year honor.
The Western Hockey League also announced all other Eastern and Western Conference 2013 WHL Award Finalists. The WHL Player of the Year finalists will be named on Thursday, April 18th, 2013. The winners of these awards along with the WHL Player of the Year will be announced at the 2013 WHL Awards Luncheon in Calgary, Alberta on Wednesday, May 1st, 2013.
