
Kevin Whitted named head coach of Atlanta Vision

ATLANTA, GA - October 12, 2005-Atlanta Vision officially announces Kevin Whitted as the new Head Coach for the 2005-2006 season. 'This year marks our first full season in the ABA league and we are building a winning organization," states Atlanta Vision owner, Quentin Townsend. 'Kevin has attributes the Vision wants in a coach: basketball knowledge, consistency, professionalism, and a desire to go to the next level."
Kevin Whitted began his basketball journey by surpassing Michael Jordan as an all-time leading scorer for E. A. Laney High School. His professional experience includes leading European leagues in Spain scoring an average of 27.6 points a game and playing on the opening day roster with the NBA Dallas Mavericks. Kevin effectively translates his playing days to coaching both girls and boys in basketball and track, personally training athletes, and conducting summer league camps for youth. Coach Whitted comments, 'Becoming the Head Coach of the Atlanta Vision is an awesome opportunity to improve my leadership skills, develop young talent, and work in a professional organization that supports my vision for this new team." Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology Education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and now resides in Smyrna, Georgia with his wife.
'Kevin is ideal to lead our championship organization on and off the court," adds Atlanta Vision General Manager, Dennis Scott. 'This season is sure to bring Georgia basketball fans Atlanta Vision excitement." Atlanta Vision 36 game season begins November 2005 through March 2006 with 18 home games at The Samson's Center, 6400 Woodrow Road - Lithonia, Georgia 30038. Vision ticket prices include a $10 adult ticket, a $5 student ticket, a scorer's table VIP ticket of $25, free for children under 6, and all tickets include free parking. 'We are ready to bring quality entertainment and explosive ABA action that is affordable for the entire family to enjoy together in an intimate setting," said Townsend.
Atlanta Vision will conduct its last an open player tryout on Saturday, October 15th and Sunday, October 16th at The Samson's Center. Selected players will be involved in the 2005-2006 Training-Vet camp which begins November 1st. Interested players can register on-line at www.THEATLANTAVISION.com.
