
Kevin Payne comments on Beckham signing by Galaxy

Washington, D.C. (January 11, 2007) - D.C. United President and CEO Kevin Payne today issued the following statement regarding the signing of David Beckham by the Los Angeles Galaxy.
"Obviously, this is extraordinary news for Major League Soccer and the Los Angeles Galaxy," Payne said. "David Beckham is arguably the biggest world star in sports. Throughout his career, David has not only been a charismatic figure on and off of the field, but is also known as a consummate professional. We welcome him to MLS and look forward to meeting him on the field.
"AEG and, in particular, Tim Leiweke have demonstrated a great deal of vision, courage and persistence in pursuing this opportunity."
