
Kevin Nastiuk Named Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week

Toronto - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Medicine Hat Tigers goaltender Kevin Nastiuk is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday October 24 after posting a 2-0-0 record, 0.50 goals against average and a .964 save percentage in two road games.
Nastiuk, a 19-year-old native of Edmonton, Alberta, turned aside 17 shots for his fifth shutout of the season in backing the Tigers to a 5-0 win over the Regina Pats on October 22. He allowed one goal on 29 shots in a 3-1 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on October 23.
Nastiuk, a fourth round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, improved his league-leading totals to 9-1-0 with a 0.90 goals against average and .964 save percentage in 10 games.
Martin Houle of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles was the QMJHL defensive player of the week for the second straight week after posting a 2-1-0 record with a 1.33 goals against average and .951 save percentage and Mathieu Aubin of the Lewiston MAINE-iacs was the offensive player of the week after scoring four goals and eight points in three games. John Scott Dickson of the Windsor Spitfires was the OHL player of the week after scoring six goals in two games.
