Kevin M. Gold, Esquire and Rhoads & Sinon LLP to serve as legal counsel to new sports franchises

May 11, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maryland NightHawks News Release

Kevin M. Gold, an attorney with the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania law firm of Rhoads & Sinon LLP, has been appointed to serve as legal counsel for two new sports franchises to be based in the Central Pennsylvania area and owned by Lititz resident Andrew Haines. In his capacity as counsel, Gold, along with other key members of Rhoads & Sinon, will assist both the Hershey Night Hawks of the American Basketball Association (ABA) and an existing franchise in the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) seeking to relocate to the Hershey area in the legal and business aspects of the new teams and their operations.

Commenting on his role with the new franchises, Gold said that "this is an exciting and unique opportunity to work with Andrew Haines, one of the brightest and hard-working young entrepreneurs in sports. The Central Pennsylvania region has a strong tradition in the sports of basketball and football and I think both franchises will thrive and become key components of the area's history of supporting professional sports at the minor league level. I am thrilled that Mr. Haines has chosen me and Rhoads & Sinon to assist in his efforts and I have been impressed with the team he has assembled for both new ventures, as well as Andrew's background in sports management in particular and business in general."

Rhoads & Sinon LLP was established in 1935 and is one of Central Pennsylvania's premiere regional firms providing sophisticated counsel to corporate, municipal, governmental and individual clients throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. Gold's practice focuses on labor and employment and intellectual property law, in addition to providing advice and counsel to individuals and teams in professional sports. Mr. Gold can be reached at (717) 237-6702 or at kgold@rhoads-sinon.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
