Kerr Named NAHL's First Star of the Week

Wenatchee Wild News Release
WENATCHEE, Wash. - Forward Chris Kerr (Penticton, British Columbia) was named the first star of the week Monday by the NAHL for his efforts in the Wenatchee Wild's 3-game series last week against the Dawson Creek Rage.
A 19-year-old, Kerr helped the Wild earn five standing points in the 3-game set with five goals and three assists (eight points). He was also plus-4.
"Chris has certainly found a spot in front of the net and has allowed us to score some goals," said Wild head coach John Becanic, noting that most of Kerr's goals are scored from within five feet of the net. "He's a fairly simple guy in a sense that he's an in-your-face type of player. He plays [offense and defense] really hard, and he gets rewarded for that."
Kerr's play earned him playing time on the Wild's No. 1 power play unit last weekend. Kerr seized the opportunity, scoring four power play goals and an assist.
Kerr scored a goal with an assist in the Wild's 4-3 Game 1 win over the Rage. He recorded one assist the following night and came through with a four-goal, one-assist effort in the Wild's 6-1 win in the third game of the series. The four-goal output was the best individual single-game performance in team history.
Shawn Pauly (Bellingham, Wash.), who figured in on four of Kerr's goals in the weekend series, also enjoyed a historical weekend. Pauly, who notched seven points in the series, became part of an elite club Sunday when he joined D.J. Vandercook (132) and Michael Di Puma (126) as the only players in Wild history to record 100 career points with the team.
The Wild (11-7-4) will travel to Odessa, Texas, for a 2-game series against the Jackalopes on Friday and Saturday. Both games will begin at 5:05 p.m. (PST). All of the Wild's games can be viewed live online at www.FASTHockey.com for a small fee.
