
Kentucky Reach to hold tryouts

Elizabethtown, KY â Make your dream of playing professional basketball a reality! Kentucky Reach, a second-year member of the World Basketball Association, Inc. (WBA), will be conducting a free agent tryout for perspective players to formulate its 2005 roster. The WBA is the first professional basketball league to teach, develop and expose players to the NBA, NBDL and international scouts. The structure of the league is unique in that it focuses on teaching and entertaining while at the same time involving youth organizations and local communities.
This year, the league will feature 12 teams playing in three divisions across the southern part of the United States. The WBA led minor league basketball in attendance in 2004. The Jackson (Mississippi) Rage franchise averaged nearly 4,000 per game. Kentucky Reach drew an opening night crowd of nearly 1,500 fans last season at Central Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, KY.
Other teams participating in 2005 include Tunica (Mississippi), Biloxi (Mississippi), Jackson (Mississippi), Cleveland (Tennessee), Birmingham (Alabama), Little Rock (Arkansas), Greenville (South Carolina), Macon (Georgia), Rome (Georgia), Peachtree City (Georgia) and Raleigh (North Carolina).
Each WBA team will include a 10-man roster and a three-month playing season from April to June. An upcoming tryout has been scheduled for Friday, April 8, 2005 from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, KY. Registration fees are $75 ($85 the day of camp). Applications can be downloaded at www.kentuckyreach.com.
