McCurry flourishing in Switzerland

Former Kentucky Reach (an Elizabethtown, Kentucky based World Basketball Association/WBA franchise), Bellarmine University (Louisville, KY) and Elizabethtown (KY) High School standout Jared McCurry is thriving during his first season playing professional basketball overseas.

McCurry is currently a starter at shooting guard for Herens-Basket, a team which competes in the upper division (LNA) of professional basketball in Switzerland. McCurry joined the Swiss team in August 2005 after a successful stint with the Kentucky Reach, a WBA franchise which played in Elizabethtown, Kentucky for the past two seasons. McCurry was a honored as all-WBA after a stellar 2005 season that concluded with the WBA Tournament in July.

McCurry, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard, is averaging 22.3 pts., 4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for Herens-Basket. McCurry is the league's third best scorer and is also has the league's top three-point shooting percentage (46.6%). He's also connecting on 56.5% of his two-point field goals. He ranks third in the league in steals (2.6) and eighth in assists. His current evaluation is 21.3, which ranks him eighth overall in the league. An evaluation is the system used by many overseas teams to rate a basketball player's overall skills.

Herens-Basket is is currently in fourth-place overall in the LNA league standings with a 9-6 overall record (3-0 in Swiss Cup competition).
