Kentucky Bisons Clinch Spot in League Finals

Owensboro, KY. March 4, 2009 -The Tri-State area's fledgling minor league Pro basketball team, the Kentucky Bisons make it to the ABA league finals. Finals begin Wednesday, March 18th in Nashville, TN between the top 8 ranked teams with the final game for the Championship will be played on Sunday, March 22nd. The team's inaugural season has brought area sports fans a lot of great basketball, but few expected the Bisons to be this successful. Having secured a place in the tournament by ranking among the top four teams in the league. The ABA ranking as it stands right now - #1.Texas Mustangs, #2.Maywood Buzz, #3.Kentucky Bisons, and #4. Nashville Broncs.
Bison's head coach Otis Key will not take time to celebrate. "We have some games to play in our regular season, we will focus on one game at a time," said Key. The bracket has yet to be determined, but fans are hoping the Bisons will be a number one seed going into playoffs. With these four teams locked in, the remaining slots are open with several teams on the bubble. The few remaining games will have these teams competing for a place in the finals. Among these teams are several past opponents of the Bisons including the Beijing Olympians and the Chicago Steam. The Kentucky Bisons have three home games remaining to play at the SportsCenter in Owensboro on Thursday March 5th at 7:00 PM, Saturday March 7th at 7:00 PM, and Sunday March 8th at 3:00 PM.
