January 23, 2009 - Eastern Professional Hockey League (EPHL)
Hudson Valley Bears News Release
The last game between the Hatters and Hudson Valley Bears was a close affair as the Hatters came back in that game. Tonight was a different story as the Hatters controlled the play from horn to horn.
New Hatter Brian Hannafin got the Hatters on the board with a goal but the Bears managed to claw back and tie it with a goal from Pete Alden. However that was it scoring wise for the Bears with Erik Kent's first goal of the night giving them the lead for good.
Kent scored a goal shortly into the second period with Drew Madeiros and Brian Hannafin adding insurance markers. Kent rounded out the hat trick with a goal late in the third period.
The third star was Drew Madeiros who finished the game with a goal and two assists. The second star was Brian Hannafin finishing with two goals. Erik Kent garnered the number one star honor with three goals and two assists.
Kent's hat trick was the first in Danbury Mad Hatters history.
Derek MacIntyre and Jeff Hill combined for 23 saves on 24 shots. Len DiCostanzo stopped 46 of 52 shots.
