Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announce that goaltender Ken MacLean has committed to play college hockey with Division 1 Rochester Institute of Technology.
MacLean, the Concord, Massachusetts native, appeared in 32 games during the regular season, posted a record of 20-9-2. His goals against average was 2.76, and he complimented that with a save percentage of .911%. MacLean also had two shutouts during the season.
The nineteen year old will join an RIT team that finished their season with a record of 20-13-6, while compiling a record of 14-7-6 within the Atlantic Hockey Conference. Their record was good enough for them to finish in third place among the very competitive conference.
Head Coach Marc Fakler commented that there is no surprise that MacLean is going to advance to the next level. He said: "Ken (MacLean) is very deserving of this opportunity.
He has worked very hard and has played a key role in our success as a first year program. We wish him continued success at the college level."
MacLean now joins Austin Hervey (Western Michigan) as the only other college commitment still on Kalamazoo's active roster.
The Jr. K-Wings will take the ice again this Thursday, April 26th, for game three of the best-of-five North Divisional Final. The game will face-off at 7:00 pm inside the Borgess Health Rink at Wings West, with tickets always just five dollars at the door.
