July 21, 2013 - West Coast League (WCL)
Kelowna Falcons News Release
Bremerton, WA; The Kelowna Falcons got their second complete game from a starter in four nights as Nolan Savage recorded his fifth win of the season on Saturday evening as the Falcons dumped the Kitsap Bluejackets 6-4.
The Falcons offense would get on the board first with a pair of runs in the fourth inning. One All-Star would knock in another as Nolan Johnson recorded his ninth RBI of the season bringing home Grayson Porter. Two batters later Jeffrey Bohling brought in his fourth RBI of the season knocking in Cody Andreychuk.
The lead was short lived however, as the Bluejackets scored three times in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 3-2 advantage.
In the top of the fifth inning, with Nathan Robertson waiting at third, Scotland Church would ground out to drive him in for his fifth RBI of the season to tie the game.
However in the bottom of the inning the Jackets would regain the lead with a run of their own off Savage.
The Falcons wasted little time in tying the game again with a run in the top of the sixth inning. Nate Goodwin would drive in his first run of the season as Johnson would plate knotting the game at four.
Then in the eighth the Falcons would give Savage a lead he would not relinquish as Johnson and James Sloan would score on a fielder's choice.
Savage would take it from there shutting down the Jackets in the eighth and ninth for his first complete game of the season. He would scatter eight hits while striking out three. Teammate Nolan Johnson finished 3-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
The Falcons and Jackets will play in the series rubber match on Sunday at the Kitsap Fairgrounds. It's the final game before the 2013 WCL All-Star Game in Victoria on Tuesday. The Falcons will return home to host the Bellingham Bells on Saturday night (July 27) at Elks Stadium.
