Kelowna Falcons Win Big on Tuesday

August 10, 2011 - West Coast League (WCL)
Kelowna Falcons News Release

The Kelowna Falcons rang Bellingham's Bells on Tuesday night 10-4 in the second final game of the season.

Four days after Brandon Marris threw a complete game two-hit shutout, he would take the hill for his final start of the summer. Marris, who was named the WCL Player of the Week, picked up right where he left off on Friday night. The righty would surrender just two hits through seven innings, one run and strikeout seven. His "K" total runs to 71, setting a new Falcons franchise record.

The offense would support Marris by striking first in the second inning on RBI hits from Brandon Lee and Andrew Firth. The Falcons would score three times on four hits.

In the bottom of the third the offense would go back to work three more times on five hits highlighted by RBI hits from Ben Swinford and a second RBI from Lee.

Meanwhile Marris was keeping the Bells' batters off balance and didn't allow a hit until the fourth, a single to Bobby Twedt Jr.

In the sixth the Falcons would tally another three run inning thanks to a three run homer from Kyle Pearson. It was another a two out rally for the Falcons started by Beau Hanowski who had an infield single followed by a walk to Greg Friesen before Pearson's second homerun of the season.

The Bells would break Marris' bid for a second consecutive shutout by scoring a single run in the top of the seventh. Kai Hatch would score on a ground out after leading off the inning with a double. In the bottom of the inning the Falcons would get that run back on an RBI sac fly from Firth to score Swinford.

Marris would win his third of the summer.

The Falcons and Bells will conclude the regular season on Wednesday night at Elks Stadium on Fan Appreciation Night. Luke West is the scheduled starter as the gates open at 5:30pm, with the first pitch at 6:35pm. Catch the game live on AM 1150 with
