Kelowna Falcons News Release
The Kelowna Falcons began their final home stand of the year with a terrific 2-0 win over the Kitsap Bluejackets on Friday night.
Falcons' starter Brandon Marris was the story and player of the game. The righty threw a complete game two hit shutout for this second win of the year. It was the third complete game for Marris, who suffered a loss in Bellingham in the second game of the year, then days later beat the Langley Blaze in an exhibition game by going the distance.
The Falcons would score two runs in the bottom of the first on Greg Friesen's only hit of the game. He would bring home Victor Rasor-Thompson and Nick Colwell for his 19th and 20th RBIs of the season. It's all the scoring Marris would need.
Marris would face the minimum in each inning except the seventh and the ninth when he would see four batters. He would finish with eight strikeouts and leads the pitching staff with 63. In the first Shane Colbert would reach on an error, but then was picked off. In the fifth Chris Murphy led off the inning with a single to centre, but then was caught stealing. Then in the ninth Dusty Kerns was stranded at second.
It's the third win out of four games for the Falcons versus the Bluejackets.
The starter for the Bluejackets Cole Thompson was equally dominate on Friday night lasting seven innings, allowing the two runs while scattering five hits. He would be hit with the loss.
With the win the Falcons sit five games back of the final playoff spot with five games to play. The Falcons need to win outright, while Walla Walla Sweets have to lose all five.
