Kelowna Falcons Shut out Bells
July 29, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Kelowna Falcons News Release
Bellingham, BC. The Kelowna Falcons made quick work of the Bellingham Bells on Saturday night, shutting them out 2-0 in 1:57 minutes.
Falcons' starter Cord Cockeill was simply outstanding. He would come within one out of a complete game. Cockrell threw 8.2 innings, scattering four hits and he struck five batters. It's his seventh win of the year, which ties him with teammate Brandon Marris for the league record in a single season.
Juan Padilla faced just one batter coming out of the pen and he struck him out to earn the save.
The offense was quiet with just five hits. They would break a scores tie in the third on an RBI ground out by Kyle Moses.
Then in the sixth the Falcons would extend their lead on a two out homerun from Andrew Firth, his second of the year.
The win moves the Falcons within one game of the final playoff spot in the East Division. The club (26-19) will host the Wenatchee Appleox (28-15), at Elks Stadium for a four game series beginning at 6:05pm on Sunday. The Sox are in first, but the Falcons are just 4.5 back in the race from the post season.
