Kelowna Falcons News Release

Kelowna, BC: Another disappointing night as the Wenatchee Applesox flexed their offensive muscle against the league's best pitcher, Brandon Marris. The Applesox would beat the Falcons for the third straight night, 12-7.

Like in the first two games of the series the Sox would score in the top of the first, as they put up three runs against the 7-1 right hander.

The Falcons offense would answer in the home half of the inning with three runs of their own. Kyle Moses would score on an error, Kyle Pearson recorded a sac fly and Jerry McClanahan had an RBI ground out.

The Applesox would respond, like they have all series long. In the top of the second the Sox would put four more on the board highlighted by a bases clearing double by Ryan Drobny.

Trailing 7-3 in the third inning, Pearson hit his team leading seventh homerun of the season with Andrew Firth aboard. The homerun and two RBIs (32) set new team records.

The Applesox would respond, again. In the top of the fifth Taylor Sparks would match Pearson's homer with a two run shot of his own. The Sox would lead 9-5 after four innings.

In the top of the fifth, Applesox right fielder Ryan Howell would blast his second homer of the series on the first pitch of the summer thrown by Jonathan Munoz.

The Falcons would add one of the sixth and eighth, but would come up short, falling for the 22nd time of the summer.

Marris suffers his second consecutive loss, lasting just four innings, giving up nine runs and 11 hits. He falls to 7-2 on the season and should get one more start before the end of the summer next week.

The Falcons loss coupled with a Bellingham Bells win, now places the Falcons 3.5 games back of the Bells for the final playoff spot in the East Division with five games to go.

The Falcons (26-22) will play their final home game of the season on Wednesday night when they host the Applesox (31-15). Tyler Hoelzen will get the start for the Falcons, with the first pitch at 6:35pm.
