August 4, 2011 - West Coast League (WCL)
Kelowna Falcons News Release

Over 900 votes were cast in just over a week to crown the winner of first ever McDonalds-Falcons Jr. Broadcaster Contest.

After a number of entries the final three were selected and it was left up to the fans to vote for their favourite play by play voice. The three finalists were Daulton, Kensi and Sunny.

All three contestants showed enthusiasm, preparation and an overall joy for completing in the contest.

All three videos and contestants received a great number of votes, but when they were tallied there was a clear cut winner.

Congratulations to KENSI RENNEBERG the winner of the McDonalds-Falcons Jr. Broadcaster contest.

"I'm SO EXCITED," said Kensi after being told she had won.

Kensi will be recognized on the field prior to the Falcons game on Tuesday night at Elks Stadium and throw out the opening pitch. She will then join Ryan Watters on the AM 1150 broadcast that night when the Falcons host the Bellingham Bells.

She will also:

. Record a player profile segment to be aired the night of the game.

. Record an interview with head coach Al Cantwell for Falcons webpage and official Facebook page.

. Receive four tickets to a Seattle Mariners game.

. Learn work out routines by accompanying Falcons players at World Gym for one hour.

. Take batting practice with the Falcons prior the Falcons game on Tuesday.

. Win a McDonalds healthy lunch for her classmates when she returns to school in September 2011

"I'm looking forward to having someone in the booth with me," says Falcons play by play broadcaster Ryan Watters. "All three finalists were AWESOME and it's so cool to see them prepare and then execute the play by play. I think the bar has been set by these three, so I'm already looking forward to next year's contest. See you in the booth Kensi!"

This was the first contest of its kind for a sports team in the city of Kelowna.

Thank you to all the contestants and to McDonalds to supporting the contest. Ronald McDonald will be on hand on Tuesday night to personally congratulate Kensi and sing the national anthems. Gates at 5:30pm, first pitch at 6:30pm.
