Kelleher Dominates with Four Points in 5-3 Win over Omaha

Ralston, Neb. - Charlie Kelleher had four points, helping the Tri-City Storm defeat the Omaha Lancers, 5-3, in its first game of the 2016 Fall Classic Thursday at Ralston Arena.

The Storm trailed, 2-0, before Kelleher (2g, 2a) went into action midway into the second. The 19-year-old assisted on the first Storm goal and scored Tri-City's last two goals. Linemates Adam Goodsir (1g, 1a) and Linus Weissbach aided Kelleher's efforts.

Dayton Rasmussen had 15 saves for his first preseason win. The Storm goalie outdueled Jacob Acton, who stopped 17 of 21 shots.

Tri-City erased a two-goal deficit in a three-minute span late in the second. First, Weissbach squibbed a backhander from the right circle on the power play with 6:27 remaining. Goodsir and Kelleher earned helpers. Weissbach, 18, is from Gothenburg, Sweden. He has five points (1g, 5a) in the first four Storm preseason games.

Wyllum Deveaux scored his first Storm goal with 3:37 left in the second. Maneuvering to the slot, the 16-year-old wristed the puck to the top left bar and in to beat Acton. Christoffer Karlsen and Nick Azar took the assists.

The power play gave the Storm its first lead 18 seconds into the third. Goodsir fished the puck through Acton, assisted by Joey Matthews and Kelleher.

After Omaha tied the contest at three with 8:36 remaining, Kelleher regained the Storm edge by snapping a goal line feed from Weissbach at the right slot. The goal came with 4:36 left.

Kelleher potted an empty-net goal with 55 seconds remaining, his second of the night to end the game.

The Storm continues the Fall Classic on Friday, September 9 at 4:00 p.m. against the Team USA U18s. To wrap up the preseason schedule, Tri-City is in action on Saturday, September 10 at 8:00 p.m. vs. Waterloo at Ralston Arena's Auxiliary Rink. Watch the game at ushl.fasthockey.com. Coming off a 2016 Clark Cup Championship, Tri-City kicks off the home schedule with Championship Night on September 30 at 7:05 p.m. vs. Sioux City.
