Katy Copperheads Open Mini Camp This Weekend

KATY, TX - Katy's Professional Indoor Football team is quickly taking shape. Coach Bryan Blake is holding a Mini Camp this weekend at Rhodes Stadium for the 60 players who have made the cut from the prior two tryouts. Coach Blake will use this weekend to teach these candidates the basics of Indoor football and hold a game-situational practice.
"We will have three cuts this weekend to trim the roster down to around twenty players," say Coach Blake. "These twenty candidates will join the twenty or so veterans who are coming in for our official Training Camp next week."
Coach Blake was overwhelmed and excited by the talent that turned out for the first two tryouts. "We're looking for the cream of the crop," says Coach Blake. "These guys should be practicing with more intensity than we saw at the first two tryouts if they want to make the team."
Mini Camp is also open to spectators. "We are encouraging the public to come out and watch this weekend as our championship team takes shape," says Coach Blake. "This will also give the community a chance to learn more about the basic rules and regulations of Indoor football."
When: Saturday, February 18, 9:30am - 12:00pm Sunday, February 19, 2:00pm - 4:30pm

The Katy Copperheads will play a 14 game schedule in 2006 consisting of seven home and seven away games. The home games will be played in the Leonard E. Merrell Center on the following dates:
-Saturday, March 11th, 2006 vs. Beaumont -Saturday, March 18th, 2006 vs. St Louis -Saturday, April 8th, 2006 vs. Montgomery -Saturday, April 22nd, 2006 vs. Hammond -Sunday, April 30th, 2006 vs. Bozeman -Friday, June 9th, 2006 vs. Arkansas -Saturday, June 24th, 2006 vs. Monroe -Monday, July 10th, 2006* vs. TBA
