Nashville Kats News Release

NASHVILLE (May 18, 2005) – The Nashville Kats are sponsoring a blood drive and will be recruiting bone marrow donor volunteers prior to kickoff at their final home game on Sunday at the Gaylord Entertainment Center, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Anyone giving blood or adding their name to the national bone marrow registry will receive a Kats T-shirt.

This drive is being held in the memory of Robin Roach Towe, former Nashville Kats Cheerleader and Season/Group Ticket Salesperson. At age 33, Robin was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) and, sadly, passed away seven months later on June 17, 2003.

Within fifteen minutes fans can be added to the National Bone Marrow Registry for life and possibly help the more than 1,000 children and adults in the Nashville area that have been diagnosed with leukemia and are currently in need of a bone marrow transplant. Within another thirty minutes, they can donate blood and save many lives. Fans can participate in both the blood drive and the bone marrow recruitment drive as long as they meet the eligibility guidelines and health requirements. The drive will take place on the plaza in front of the Gaylord Entertainment Center.
