Nashville Kats News Release
NASHVILLE (March 11, 2005) â The Nashville Kats have activated FB/LB Casey Urlacher and quarterback Bill Whittemore from their practice squad in preparation for their game against the Colorado Crush on Saturday night.
Urlacher (6-0, 240) has played in one game this season, while Whittemore (6-0, 205) has spent the season's first six weeks on the practice squad. Urlacher, who was an all-af2 player last season will play in place of FB/LB Dan Alexander, who is nursing a neck injury. Whittemore will serve as the backup quarterback to starter Tony Zimmerman, with regular starter Leon Murray on the shelf for at least one more game following knee surgery.
To make room for Urlacher, Whittemore and defensive specialist Rober' Freeman, who was activated from injured reserve, the Kats placed Murray on IR and moved defensive specialist Angel Estrada and fullback/linebacker Kevin Nagle to the practice squad. Estrada (6-2, 215) and Nagle (6-1, 255) were both inactive last week.
The Kats (1-5) host Central Division-leading Colorado (3-2) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on a tape delay at 11 p.m. CT on Fox Sports Net South. The contest will be carried live on 104.5 The Zone.
