In the first ever meeting between the two clubs, it was Washington Spirit who scored in extra time (90'+5) to earn the 2-1 victory over Kansas City. Washington's Trinity Rodman scored in extra time as Tori Huster registered the assist. Sprit's Ashley Sanchez scored the other goal with an assist by Rodman while Kansas City's Amy Rodriguez scored a goal, assisted from Jessica Silva.
