Kansas City Explorers Announce 2011 Season Schedule

KANSAS CITY, MO (March 10, 2011) - WTT 2010 Champions, the Kansas City Explorers, will open their 19th and title-defending season on the road against the Washington Kastles and Venus Williams on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. The Explorers back-to-back home opening matches will take place Thursday, July 7th against the Sacramento Capitals and Friday, July 8th against the Newport Beach Breakers. The Lasers will have to face the Champions on Saturday, July 9th in Springfield. The Explorers will return to Kansas City for a match-up with the Boston Lobsters on Sunday, July 10th.
The number one men's doubles team in the world, Bob and Mike Bryan will defend the title with the Explorers on July 12th and 13th with matches in Sacramento and Newport Beach. Home matches featuring the Bryan Brothers at Explorers Stadium will be on July 14th and 16th against the Sacramento Capitals and the 2010 Eastern Conference Champions, the New York Sportimes. The Explorers will compete against the Lasers for a third consecutive home match on Sunday, July 17th.
The East Coast will get a taste of the Champions and two more visits from the Bryan Brothers against the Sportimes in New York on July 18th and the Philadelphia Freedoms on July 19th in the city of Brotherly Love.
Marquee draft and fan-favorite, Mark Philippoussis, will compete with the St. Louis Aces against the Explorers in the home closing match on Wednesday, July 20th. The Explorers 2011 regular season will come to a close against the Aces, featuring Philippoussis in St. Louis.
Explorers home matches will be played at Explorers Stadium at Barney Allis Plaza in the heart of downtown Kansas City. Matches will begin at 7:35pm, except for Sunday matches on July 10th and July 17th; starting times for these will be 6:35pm. Season tickets are available for purchase now and individual tickets will go on sale Monday, May 23, 2011.
Along with the excitement of another Explorers season, Kansas City can look forward to a special charity concert featuring the Bryan Brothers Band and David Baron; date and location of this event to be determined.
