PORT HURON, MI - Lucas Drake scored his second goal of the night just 24 seconds into overtime on Saturday to lift the Kalamazoo Wings to a 5-4 victory over the Port Huron Icehawks in front of a sell-out crowd at Wings Stadium.

Despite the overtime loss, the Icehawks (29-16-3-1) pick up a point in the International Hockey League standings and remain in first place with 62 points. They now hold a narrow two point lead over Kalamazoo and Muskegon, who are tied for second. With the win, the K-Wings (30-19-0-0) remain unbeaten in extra sessions this season (5-0 in overtime and 6-0 in shootouts) and extend their home winning streak to four games.

A night after the Icehawks dominated the Flint Generals 8-1, they found themselves in a more evenly matched contest. The two teams kicked off the action by trading power play goals in the first period. Port Huron's Daniel Tetrault scored with the man advantage at 13:29, and Mark Nebus responded just over two minutes later with a power play goal of his own to tie the game. The Icehawks scored twice more before the end of the period, with goals from Tab Lardner and Derek Patrosso, to take a 3-1 lead into the second.

Kalamazoo fought back in the second period and tied the contest with goals from John Glavota and Drake. They got their first lead of the game midway through the third when Anthony Battaglia fired a shot past Icehawks goaltender Ryan Mior. The Icehawks were not done yet, however. Nick Lindberg notched his 20th goal of the season at 17:19 to send the game into overtime.

Lardner led the Icehawks with one goal and three assists, while Derek Patrosso had one goal and two assists and Jamie Lovell added a pair of helpers.

The Icehawks were outshot 36-28 in the loss. K-Wings goalie Joel Martin earned the win with 24 saves on 28 shots. Mior made 31 saves. Port Huron was 1-6 on the power play and Kalamazoo was 1-9.

The Icehawks return home on Sunday for a showdown with Muskegon. Tickets for Sunday's game are just $5 for kids 14-and-under and seniors 62-and-over. A Skate With the Players event is scheduled immediately following the game.
