Port Huron Icehawks News Release
PORT HURON, MI - Stan Drulia, head coach and general manager of the Port Huron Icehawks, announced that right wing Robert Snowball has been called up to the Lake Erie Monsters in the American Hockey League. The Monsters are the AAA affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.
Snowball will make his AHL debut tonight when the Monsters take on the Manchester Monarchs. His call-up marks the first time that an Icehawks player has advanced to the AHL this season.
The enforcer re-signed with the Icehawks in early December after retiring from hockey at the end of the 2007-08 campaign. He has six points (3g, 3a), a +6 rating and 49 penalty minutes in 20 games this season.
The 27-year old native of Markham, Ontario is in his sixth professional season and third in the city of Port Huron. He put up three points (1g, 2a) and 141 penalty minutes in 34 games with the Icehawks last season and posted 17 points (8g, 9a) and 231 penalty minutes in 63 games with the Port Huron Flags in the 2006-07 season.
"We are extremely proud of Snowball. He has worked very hard since coming out of retirement and really deserves this opportunity," Drulia said. "As an organization, we always love to see our players develop and advance to the next level."
Snowball will be reunited with former Icehawk Josh Aspenlind on the ice tonight. Aspenlind started the season with the ECHL Elmira Jackals and was recently called up to Lake Erie.
The Icehawks travel to Kalamazoo tonight to battle the K-Wings before returning home on Sunday to meet Muskegon. Tickets for Sunday's game are just $5 for kids 14-and-under and seniors 62-and-over. A Skate With the Players event is scheduled immediately following the game.
Tickets for all Icehawks home games are available now at the Icehawks office, McMorran Arena box office, all Ticketmaster locations and www.ticketmaster.com. For more information call 810-966-3800 or visit www.porthuronicehawks.com.
