
Kalamazoo Falls to Midwest Division Leaders

St. Louis, MO- Scott Viele posted saves in a shutout effort, Luc Boby scored twice, and the St. Louis Bandits shutout the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings 6-0 to remain unbeaten on the season in regulation on Friday night in St. Louis.
The Bandits stormed out of the gates on their home ice as Rance Hughes lit the lamp for the second time of the season with his tally at the :42 mark. He beat Jr. K-Wing goalie Kenneth MacLean, who was making his first start in a Kalamazoo sweater.
It took just under four minutes for St. Louis to strike again and take a 2-0 lead. Drew Kariofiles slid the puck past MacLean for his first on the campaign. The Bandits produced two goals on eight shots in the first five minutes of action.
Frank Dichiara gave the Bandits a 3-0 first period lead when his fifth of the season found the back of the net at the 11:45 mark of the opening frame.
Kalamazoo posted twelve shots in the opening twenty minutes of action. They went 0-2 on their power play opportunities.
St. Louis was working with a 4-0 lead and a power play opportunity mid way through the second, when Boby notched his first of the season with his man-advantage goal.
Kalamazoo mustered up eleven shots of their own in the second period and had an extended five-on-three at the end of the period in which they could not convert on. With five seconds left in the period, St. Louis piled on a fifth goal Boby (2nd).
Just over halfway through the third period, St. Louis extended their lead yet again. Cody Ganchar beat MacLean for his third goal of the season.
Kalamazoo will wrap up their weekend series in St. Louis tomorrow night, October 1st at 7:45 p.m.
The Jr. K-Wings will return to the Borgess Health Rink at Wings West again on Saturday, October 8th at 2 p.m. against the Michigan Warriors.
