K-Wings Streak Snapped at Four

Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Flint, MI - Good things do come to an end and for the Kalamazoo Wings their 2-0 defeat means the termination of a four-game overall winning streak and eight straight victories against the Flint Generals.

Despite a near goal, a quick moving first period ended with the teams still scoreless. Out-shooting Kalamazoo 11-9, Flint appeared to score the contests first goal on a dump-in by A.J. Bozoian that took a strange bounce off the sidewall and into the K-Wings net. However, Bozoian, who was in the neutral zone, sent the puck into the attack zone while Josef Fojtik was still in the zone, resulting in an offside and the negated goal.

Breaking the scoreless deadlock, Flint's Josef Fojtik (19th) intercepted a pass in his own zone and skated coast-to-coast for the breakaway tally.

Flint put the nail in the Kalamazoo's coffin late in the third with an empty-net tally from John DiPace (19th) to give their Generals their first victory in nine attempts against the K-Wings this season.

Chad Alban earned his first shutout of the season stopping 32 shots, while Joel Martin recorded his first loss in his last starts by stopping 28 of the 29 shots he faced.
