Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, Mich.- The Kalamazoo Wings have signed center Justin Taylor for the upcoming season, the team announced Friday.
Taylor, who is entering his sixth season with Kalamazoo and seventh year as a professional, is the team's all-time leading ECHL scorer with 79 goals. The 26-year-old is one point shy of tying Kory Karlander (170 points) for third all-time in Kalamazoo's ECHL history.
"Justin is coming into one of the most important years of his career," said Nick Bootland, head coach and director of hockey operations. "He will be a veteran on our team and needs to continue his growth of leadership on and off the ice."
Last season, the Mindemoya, Ontario native played in 60 games, registering 11 goals and notching 34 points. He appeared in all five playoff games for the K-Wings, scoring a goal and adding an assist.
"Justin has the ability to play in all situations," noted Bootland. "We can stick him on any line at any time and expect results."
Before turning pro in 2010, Taylor played for the London Knights in the OHL and was a sixth round (180th overall) pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
