Timmy on a Tear - Although Tim Fedroff was never put on the DL, the UNC Alum missed a week and a half due to a nagging hamstring injury in the middle of July. Since coming back on July 21st Fedroff has been on fire. Fedroff has hit safely in all but two of his 18 games since coming back. The K-Tribe outfielder also boasts nine multi-hit games including two three hit games and a four hit outburst. Fedroff has brought his average up from .252 to .289 (now the fourth best in the CL), he also boasts a .387 obp, the third best in the Carolina League. Fedroff also has racked up a season high 13 game hit streak. T-Fed has a consecutive on-base streak off 32 games, tied for the longest streak this season in the Carolina League. Fedroff is hitting .325 during the streak which started on June 21st. Frederick's Caleb Joseph reached base safely for 32 straight games from May 27th - July 15th! The streak is the longest by a K-Triber since Stephen Head reached base safely in 37 straight games in 2006. Pickin' It Up - The K-Tribe's Doug Pickens has been on a tear. In his last six games, he has racked up 12 hits and nine RBI, with four multi-RBI games. The K-Tribe Gets Defensive - After a rough defensive start to the season, the K-Tribe is now third in the Carolina League with a .974 fielding percentage (108 errors). Kinston's Cord Phelps has the second best fielding percentage (.994, three errors in 473 chances) of any position player in the CL (Watts .996). Streak Free! - The K-Tribes seven game win streak came to an end on Wednesday. It was their longest streak since winning eight in a row August 7th through 15th of last year. Kinston followed the streak, which propelled them into the playoff race in the Southern Division, with a season high eight game losing streak. The K-Tribe lost 11 of their final 13 games of 2009 (including the streak) as they playoffs for the first time since 2000. Meet the New Guys - Infielder Matt Willard and Outfielder Adam White join Kinston from Low A Lake County. Willard hit .226 in 31 games for Lake County this season. He also spent two different stints with Kinston previously this season, hitting .148 in ten games. Adam White makes his Carolina League debut sent to Kinston from Low A Lake County on August 11th. White hit .255 with one home run in 53 games for Low A Lake County, stole 15 bases in 21 attempts. An All-State Running back in High School, White is one of the fastest players in the Cleveland Indians system.

Start Me Up - The K-Tribe now has three starters in the top five in the Carolina League in ERA. Departed starter Eric Berger leads the league with a 2.45 mark, Paolo Espino makes his first appearance at third with a 2.88 ERA and today's starter Russell Young is fifth at 3.33. The starters have been great for the last month, having allowed just 39 ER in 151.2 innings over the last 29 games, an ERA of 2.31.
