January 22, 2017 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) - Orangeville A's News Release

ORANGEVILLE, ON - Justin Moss dominates in the paint but the A's fall 127-107 to the Island Storm at home

Coming off a win against the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans last weekend, the Orangeville A's were looking to add another W under their belt. The first quarter began close as both teams exchanged baskets for a period of time and the A's led by a small margin of 15-13. As the quarter continued the Island Storm began to experience shooting woes as they failed to make a number of close-range shots. The Orangeville A's capitalized and continued their high percentage scoring to find themselves with a lead of 35-23 at the end of the first quarter.

Rahlir Jefferson finished with 17 points and 9 rebs

The Orangeville A's continued with their strong inside presence as a number of their points came from within the key. The Island Storm also continued their shooting struggles as they tried to stay competitive with a majority of their points coming from free throws. Justin Moss led scoring for the A's with 17 points (9R, 1A). The halftime score was 68-54 with the Orangeville A's in the lead.

The third quarter was much more successful for the Island Storm as they were able to start making shots. By the 6:00 mark of the quarter, the Storm exploded and went on a 19-8 run to cut the A's lead to 5 points at 78-73. The A's were unable to shake their poor shooting as Terry Thomas of the Storm scored seven straight points to add to his total of 22 points (6R, 1A). The quarter ended 94-82 as the Storm's strong defence and offence allowed them to catapult into the lead.

The fourth quarter was similar to the third as the ball got sticky on the offensive end for the A's and they struggled to find a rhythm. The Island Storm continued to dominate and the A's had no answer on the defensive end. The Storm found themselves on a 16-8 run by the 6:00 mark. The A's stayed competitive but were unable to stop the exchange of points as the Island Storm held them off for a 127-107 win. Justin Moss had a huge double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Anthony Harris was right behind him with 22P, 3R, 4A. Terry Thomas led scoring for the Storm as he finished with: 22P, 7R, 1A. The A's were outscored 73-39 in the second half. The A's could have used some help from their bench as the Island Storm's bench scored 50 points compared to just 27 from the A's.
