Justin Dean, Darius Vines Named Farm Bureau Player & Pitcher of the Week

PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves and Farm Bureau are excited to announce that outfielder Justin Dean and starting pitcher Darius Vines have been named the Farm Bureau Player and Pitcher of the Week.

Dean, 25, hit .304 with a homer, two doubles and seven RBI against Pensacola. Dean also stole two bases and scored two runs. On Saturday, Dean made a tremendous catch in right center field, grabbing a low line drive to prevent the tying run.

Atlanta's No. 29 prospect is hitting .260 with two home runs, 12 extra-base hits, 23 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 54 games for Mississippi. Dean transferred to Mississippi on May 2 from the Gwinnett Stripers.

Atlanta drafted Dean in the 17th round of the 2018 MLB First Year Player Draft.

Vines, 24, tossed six innings of one-run ball on Friday against Pensacola. The right-hander has a 1.51 ERA in his last seven starts (7 ER/41.2 IP) with 35 strikeouts to eight walks. In five starts in July, Vines is 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA.

Atlanta's No. 11 prospect posts a 6-4 record and is sixth in the Southern League with 4.14 ERA in 19 starts. He leads the league with 118 strikeouts and 100 innings pitched.

Atlanta drafted Vines in the seventh round of the 2019 MLB First Year Player Draft.

The M-Braves just finished a 16-8 month of July with a three-game lead on first place in the South Division. The club returns to action with a six-game home series against Biloxi on Tuesday, August 2.
