Miami, July 3, 2008 - Miami FC (3-6-7) will be facing off against the Puerto Rico Islanders in a nationally televised USL-1 battle on Fox Soccer Channel at 8pm (ET) tomorrow, 4th of July. The Blues are coming off of a heartbreaking defeat to FC Dallas (2-1) in the US Open Cup last Tuesday but will look to continue their 7-game undefeated streak within the league.
Tickets for tomorrow's game are only $10 and include parking, a fireworks show at the end of the game, and admission. The first 200 fans will also get a free Hotshot bobblehead. PowerAde, Ramu Reps and DeVry University will be offering many prizes which include a chance to watch Miami FC @ Seattle Sounders in September, in Washington.
Miami FC is currently stuck in a pack of teams fighting for the playoffs and they are looking to make some fireworks of their own on the field and earn 3 valuable points over the weekend.
The Blues are undefeated in their last 7 games in the league and have only allowed 1 goal during that stretch. Working on a streak of his own is Josh Saunders, the Blues goalkeeper, who is on a run of incredible form. He has not allowed a goal at home since May 16th and is currently the league leader in shutouts. Alex Afonso, who is tied for 1st in goals in the USL-1 with 7, will try to up his tally at home tomorrow.
The Puerto Rico Islanders (4-4-3) just took two straight from the Minnesota Thunder (1-0; 3-1) and will be looking to make it three in a row against the Blues. The Islanders are lead by their midfielder Noah Delgado who is in his 3rd straight season with Puerto Rico. He is tied for the lead in points with 6 along with his midfield partner Jonathan Steele.
