Sioux City 6, Sioux Falls 2 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)

In game one of a doubleheader, Sioux City scored six runs in the first three innings and never trailed as they defeated Sioux Falls 6-2. Tim Layden went all seven innings for the Explorers and allowed just one earned run on four hits. With the win he evened his record at 5-5. Sioux City notched 12 hits in the contest and got contributions from throughout their lineup. DH Alex Llanos had a strong game going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored while CF Dustin Jones and RF Jason Tuttle set the table for him by each collecting two hits. Both men also scored two runs in the game.

Sioux City 4, Sioux Falls 1 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)

In game two, Sioux City completed the sweep with a 4-1 victory behind 6 1/3 solid innings from starter Alexander Francisco. He struck out five and allowed just one earned run on four this to improve to 8-1. Brett Reid got the final two outs for his 14th save of the year. 3B Juan Camacho led the way for Sioux City as he went 2-for-2 with two RBI. DH Alex Llanos tripled and scored a run in the contest. In the third inning, 1B Patrick Reilly hit his 10th homer of the year to account for the Canaries only run. LF Beau Torbert was 3-for-3 in a losing effort for Sioux Falls.

Grand Prairie 6, El Paso 5

Grand Prairie scored three runs in the first inning and held off a late rally to beat El Paso 6-5. AirHogs starter Scot Drucker went 7 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits to improve to 8-3 on the season. 1B Billy Munoz belted a three run homer to right field in the first inning to put the AirHogs on top 3-0 before El Paso tied the game with three runs in the fourth. Grand Prairie grabbed the lead back on 3B Edwin Maldonado's RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning and added two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth, highlighted by C JB Tucker's triple to right center. Josh Neitz started for the Diablos, allowed five earned runs on eight hits, and dropped to 7-6 with the loss.

Fort Worth 5, Pensacola 3

Fort Worth scored single runs in five innings to clip Pensacola 5-3. C Osiel Flores homered and drove in two as part of a 2-for-4 at the plate and 1B Nilson Teilon went 3-for-5 with an RBI to lead the Cats offense. RF Chuck Carter and CF Brian Fryer each had two hits in the game as well. Tim Haines started and tossed 5 1/3 innings to move his record to 5-3 on the season. He struck out six while allowing seven hits. John Webb went five innings for the Pelicans and fell to 6-6 with the loss. Fort Worth closer Jon Hunton worked a perfect ninth inning for his 16th save. RF Chris Reynolds and 2B Cesar Aranguren each had two hits for Pensacola.

St. Paul 9, Wichita 4

St. Paul roughed up Wichita starter Gustavo Mata for six runs in the bottom of the second inning and went on to defeat the Wingnuts 9-4. The Saints batted around in the inning and gave Justin Lord all the run support he'd need to earn his fifth win of the season. Lord went 7 1/3 innings and struck out three to improve to 5-8. St. Paul C Kevin Sullivan turned in a fine night at the plate going 3-for-5 with two runs scored. RF Heath Keel homered and scored three times in the game. 2B Tony Mansolino went 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI.

Shreveport 4, Lincoln 1

@ Shreveport, LA. Time: 2:20 Attendance: 1,592

After a long rain delay forced Shreveport starter Thad Markray to leave the game after just eight pitches, Matt Pilgreen came on and tossed seven shutout innings to lead the Sports past Lincoln 4-1. Pilgreen fanned seven batters and walked just two to up his mark to 2-4. Trey Poland pitched a scoreless ninth inning to collect his 11th save of the season. C Tommy Bryant led the Shreveport attack with three hits in four trips to the plate and 3B Bobby Bratton drove in two runs and went 2-for-4 on the night. Lincoln starter Vince Davis allowed three earned runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings pitched and fell to 4-3.
