Jr. K-Wings to Select First in Today's Draft

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud member of the North American Hockey League, announces the team will receive the first overall pick in today's NAHL Draft.

As the two newest member clubs, the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings and Minot Minotauros will select number one and two, respectively, after the Jr. K-Wings won the expansion team draft lottery coin flip.

Today's draft will commence later today, Thursday, May 26 at 2 p.m. EST. Draft results will be available by following NAHLHockey on Twitter or at NAHLDraft.com and the complete results by round/selection will be posted on NAHL.com at the conclusion of the draft.

There is no registration process to be eligible for the NAHL Entry Draft. Amateur players less than 21 years of age on or before December 31, 2011 who are not listed on an NAHL team roster or are listed on an NAHL team roster but played less than 10 NAHL regular season and/or playoff games during the 2010-11 season and did not accept a tender from an NAHL team prior to the 2011 NAHL Entry Draft are eligible for selection.

Prior to the NAHL Entry Draft, the NAHL will conduct a one-round draft of North American 3 Hockey League (3HL) players with the results posted alphabetically by team on NA3HL.com at its conclusion.

Players not chosen in the 3HL draft are still eligible for selection in the NAHL Entry Draft.

In a separate transaction, Jr. K-Wings have acquired the rights to forward Andrew Graves from the Jamestown Ironmen (formerly Motor City Metal Jackets).

The native of Allen Park, Michigan came into his own last season, posting 44 points (26 goals, 18 assists) in 56 games with the Metal Jackets.

Graves comes to southwest Michigan after playing two seasons in the NAHL with Motor City and a season with the Detroit Belle Tire U18 "AAA" team.
