FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Wednesday, July 8, 2015) - Goalkeeper Josh Ford has rejoined the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on loan from Major League Soccer's Orlando City City SC, the club announced Wednesday.
Ford will be available for for tonight's North American Soccer League Fall Season opener at the Carolina Railhawks. The 27-year-old was originally loaned to Fort Lauderdale on May 29, 2015. Ford will remain with the team through the duration of the 2015 NASL season.
The Liverpool, NY native started the Strikers' last two league games, including the 3-2 come-from-behind win against Minnesota United to close out the Spring Season.
Including Ford, the Strikers have utilized four different netminders in league action this season:
David Meves started six league matches for the Red & Gold before suffering a fractured jaw May 27 during the team's U.S. Open Cup match at the Charleston Battery. Meves learned during a medical examination earlier this week that his recovery time for his fractured jaw would require approximately six more weeks.
Joe Nasco made one start, April 25 at Ottawa. Nasco fractured his leg in two places early in the match. He is undergoing rehabilitation and is expected to return to the team later in the Fall Season.
Fourth-year Striker Lionel Brown has appeared in three NASL matches this year, including two starts.
Ford was originally drafted by Orlando City with the 20th selection in the second stage of the MLS re-entry draft earlier this year. Prior to signing with City, Ford spent four seasons with Seattle Sounders FC, including a loan spell with USL side Orange County Blues, after a standout career at the University of Connecticut.
