New Orleans VooDoo News Release
NEW ORLEANS (July 17, 2012) - The Arena Football League (AFL) named New Orleans VooDoo wide receiver Josh Bush this week's Russell Offensive Player of the Week for his record-breaking performance against Tampa Bay, announced the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Bush set new VooDoo single-game records in receiving yards (256), all-purpose yards (349), and tied the franchise's mark for receiving touchdowns (5).
The Miami, Fla. native is enjoying his best season of his professional career, establishing new career highs in receptions (105), receiving yards (1,676) and receiving touchdowns (35). He enters this weekend's game needing only 19 receiving yards to set a new VooDoo single-season record. The record currently stands at 1,694, set by Aaron Bailey in 2005.
The VooDoo (8-9, 5-2) host the Georgia Force (8-9, 3-4) on Saturday night in The Graveyard for the most important game of the 2012 season. With a win, the VooDoo will gain a postseason berth for the first time since 2004. Also, if a win is coupled with a Jacksonville Sharks (9-9, 4-4) loss, the VooDoo would claim the South Division and host a first round playoff game.
